KiCad - Making use of a part with a common IC footprint
l wish this is certainly the right location to question. I set up KiCad because I keep hearing great things about it ánd because it dosén't have got any designed restrictions, and I made a decision to make a fast circuit with whatever components it came pre-installed with to check it out. I decided to go with a Picture12F675, assuming that simply because observed as it had that as an installed element it would furthermore possess the footprint for when I make the PCB design.
I presumed wrongly. Right now, when I use KiCad's i9000 PCB developer, and import the netlist produced from the schematic it says that it dosen't have got a impact for U1 (the Picture) but mainly because noticed as this IC can be manufactured in SOIC 150mil, is certainly there a method of simply telling KiCad to 'use a generic SOIC 150mil 8 pin number design template', or anything Iike that? If not, how perform I move about getting libraries for PIC's?
Edit: l would have got asked on the KiCád subréddit but it barely has any posts or activity.
